The Harbor is built on trust, creativity, and meaningful conversations. This document is a working draft to help define the experience and protections needed as The Harbor grows.
This is not intended to replace legal review. Final language should be created and approved by legal counsel.
1. Explorer Account Agreement Concept
When an Explorer creates a Harbor account, they enter a trusted environment where they may choose to share personal goals, creative ideas, project information, files, conversations, and other materials related to their journey.
The purpose of this agreement is to establish mutual respect and confidentiality between The Harbor and the Explorer.
2. Explorer Protection Goals
The final agreement should address:
- Protection of private Explorer information
- Protection of uploaded files and project materials
- Recognition that Explorers retain ownership of their original work
- Respectful handling of personal stories, ideas, and conversations
- Clear expectations around use of shared information
3. Harbor Protection Goals
The final agreement should also protect The Harbor's:
- Original frameworks
- Processes and workflows
- Internal systems
- Creative experiences
- Service structures
- Proprietary methods
Explorers should agree not to misuse confidential Harbor materials or attempt to copy protected systems.
4. Explorer Experience Direction
This agreement should not feel like a legal barrier. It should feel like part of entering a safe harbor.
Suggested experience language:
"Before you enter The Harbor..."
"Every journey begins with trust. The Harbor Promise helps protect your ideas, your story, and the conversations we share along the way."
Checkbox: "I agree to The Harbor Promise & Confidentiality Agreement."
5. Harbormaster Additional Agreement
Approved Harbormasters, Guides, Partners, and Contributors will require a separate expanded agreement because they may have access to deeper Harbor information, including:
- Explorer information
- Internal operations
- Service pathways
- Business systems
- Confidential workflows
- Partner materials

Items for legal review:
- Explorer Terms of Service
- Privacy language
- Confidentiality protections
- Ownership of customer materials
- Harbor intellectual property protection
- Harbormaster agreements
- Partner/vendor agreements

7. Implementation Direction for Banner
Build the agreement acceptance experience into account creation, but keep the final wording flexible until legal review is complete.
Requirements:
- Required acceptance during first account creation
- Agreement available later inside the user account
- Acceptance record maintained
- Separate Harbormaster agreement pathway
The goal is to create a trusted ecosystem where people can safely bring their dreams, ideas, and projects into The Harbor.
